Joyce has a warm, collaborative, evidence-based approach and passion for exploring each client’s strengths and areas of struggle.
Joyce has completed a PhD with a specialisation in emotion & attention from the University of Queensland. She has also completed master and bachelor degrees in (clinical) psychology at the University of Amsterdam.
Joyce has worked at the Kooky clinic and Therapy House, in private practice roles where she specialised in working with children and adolescents in psychological assessments as well as therapy supports.
Joyce also has more than 15 years experience in (applied) mental health research, analysis, interpretation, and report writing across university, hospital, and community mental health settings. She has worked at the Queensland Brain Institute, Oxford university (UK), and New York University (USA), but also in applied research settings like Autism Queensland and the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Joyce is also a mother to two school-aged kids and knows first-hand how challenging the parenting journey can be at times and how much we all want the best for our kids. She enjoys reading a good book, spending time with her family and friends, and going for a swim or hike.
